We do not know the history of the jacket. Please look at all of the photos for information, and please ask any questions you may have.

This World War II US Army Air Force Officer's uniform jacket comes with a USAAF HQ bullion patch on the right shoulder and an 8th Air Force bullion patch on the left shoulder, as well as a five-bar overseas service patch on the left sleeve. The patches were all in place when we found this jacket. Both bullion patches are in good condition, as shown. The HQ patch is not stitched in place very well and is lifting in places, so we can see that it is backed with white cheesecloth.

The 8th Airforce patch is the "stubby wing" variant, and looks like it is backed with a coarse brown fabric, but there is very little room to "peek" past the stitching. All buttons and snaps are intact, and the belt is actually incorporated into the jacket so it can't be lost. There is an ingenious arrangement of snaps that hold the belt and buckle in place.

This is a nicely constructed jacket. We've shown it inside-out to show the lining; note that the back is not fully lined.

Jacket shows wear from both use and storage. There is damage to the left pocket as shown. Please look at the photos for more information on condition. Jacket was made by Hart Schaffner & Marx, Fomby Clothing Co, San Antonio.

Measurements (taken flat with jacket buttoned). "Snyder" is written in the lining of one sleeve, as well as on a tag inside the body of the jacket.
