This is a beautiful pair of World War II U. Army Air Corps theater made China/Burma/India patches that are in excellent condition. The first patch is constructed with all components being of woolen cloth and separately applied to the backing not embroidered as normally encountered. The beaded bullion border around the edge of the patch is of gold metallic thread and not silver, again as not normally encountered. The Chinese sun and the Burmese Star are both works of art being beautifully hand embroidered and standing well off the blue background.
The silver thread used in the embroidery is with an attractive age toned patina. The reverse of the patch is of khaki muslin material. Army Air Corps headquarters winged star patch is hand embroidered silver bullion thread on a blue velvet background with a red thread dot to the center of the star and exhibiting the highest quality of craftsmanship. This patch is padded giving the winged star a beautiful three-dimensional appearance.
The reverse of the patch is of khaki colored muslin and matches that of the CBI patch perfectly. Both patches appear to have been removed from the same uniform.
