Here is another small grouping from my personal WWII Collection named to J. Hebbs who served with the 8th & 9th AAF as Aerial Gunner during the war and was Wounded in Action. Included in this grouping is the vets Ike jacket with cut-edge 8th and 9th AAF patches, Master Sargent chevrons (embroidered on black twill), 4 overseas bars (embroidered on wool)Ruptured Duck patch, US and AAF wing/prop collar discs (w/ correct flat clutch holders), Presidential Unit Citation (pin-back), beautiful sterling silver Aerial Gunner Wings (pin-back / marked STERLING), three place Wolf Brown ribbon bar with Air Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct, and ETO w/ 3 Bronze Battle Stars, & single plastic coated P. Ribbon for being wounded in action (pin-back).
The jacket is in outstanding condition with no moth damage, and has been reissued a couple of times (see photos) which was not uncommon with the AAF because of the number of casualties. The jacket is named to the vet, and also still retains the Q. Tag inside the left inner pocket dated June 24, 1944 Size 38R. US Army issued tie named to the vet, and his 100% wool uniform shirt that still retains the Q.Tag dated March 4, 1942. His shirt is in very clean crisp condition, but does have a couple of very small holes that look to be cigarette burns and not moth holes. Also included with this mans grouping is his Air Medal, ribbon, lapel button & ribbon swatch (w/ Oak Leaf Cluster) in coffin case, Good Conduct Medal w/ lapel button, ribbon & ribbon swatch, PH ribbon swatch, Ruptured Duck lapel button, 8th AAF cut-edge patch, 2- AAF cut-edge patches, Master Sgt Chevron, brass belt buckle w/ AAF wing/prop insignia, sweetheart MOTHER mirror w/ yellow and blue piping for AAF in the original package, Army Air Forces "Silhouette Handbook" dated Sept. 1942, US Army Air Forces "Mother" pillow case from Wendover Field Utah (beautiful unused condition) 8th AAF souvenir hankie w/ British made 8th AAF patch embroidered "Greetings from London", and a lot of photos of the vet overseas and in uniform.
I find these photos very interesting, and one is of German POWS working on building an aircraft runway. These original groupings are getting harder to find, but this one will make a great addition to any WWII collection!
